The Institute for World Literature

Bilgi University in Istanbul is the setting for the second session of The Institute for World Literature. The month-long summer program was created to explore the study of literature in a globalizing world and to provide participants with a grounding in the core questions and skills that tie together the breadth of scholarship on world literature. Under the direction of Harvard’s David Damrosch, Ernest Bernbaum Professor of Literature, in collaboration with other leading comparatists at Harvard and at forty institutions around the world, the institute offers a directed and expanded context for the study of primary texts of world literature.
Seminars and lectures explore new approaches to research and teaching in this fast-changing field, and time with colleagues and students fosters the exchange of ideas about current research and a budding network of friendships to support future contacts and collaborations.
