**Churn: Life in the Increasingly Diverse World of Higher Education and How to Make It Work**

 February 4, 2022 at 1pm EST / 12pm CST / 10am PST

*Duration:* 60 minutes + optional 30 minutes networking

 *Register in advance:* <https://www.facultyadvancementnetwork.org/upcoming-events>

Acclaimed psychologist and university leader [Claude Steele](https://profiles.stanford.edu/claude-steele) uses "churn" to describe the mental and physical stress we can feel in a situation over possibly being seen and treated in terms of bad images of our group. Senior diversity officers and faculty leaders across the [Faculty Advancement Network](https://www.facultyadvancementnetwork.org/upcoming-events) will engage Steele in the application of “churn” to faculty’s interactions at our universities—with chairs, with students, with postdocs, with search committees, with administrators, and of course, with each other. Following the program, participants will have an opportunity to discuss Steele’s advice in breakout rooms with peers.
