Even as academic enrollments in the arts and humanities falter, there is a persistent, and even growing interest in the kinds of texts, artifacts and experiences that the arts and humanities offer. To meet this hunger, new educational initiatives are arising online and in-person, inside academia and out. What will the next decades of humanistic learning look like? To ask these questions, we’re delighted to welcome three scholar-builders, who are working to keep humanistic learning alive and relevant and make it more accessible than ever. Justin Smith Ruiu is Professor of the history and philosophy of science at Université Paris Cité, and runs both the popular newsletter The Hinternet, and the newly formed Hinternet Foundation. Doris Sommer is Ira and Jewell Williams Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and of African and African American Studies, and Director of the Cultural Agents Initiative at Harvard University. Jon Baskin is founding editor at The Point, and Program Director of The Program for Public Thinking at the University of Chicago.
