Professor Julie Buckler's  areas of interest include Russian literature, 19th-century and pre-revolutionary prose, 18th-century literature, West European and American literature, cultural studies and semiotics, performing arts (opera, ballet, drama, music) and performance studies, urban studies, imperialism, monuments and commemorations, the presence of the past, the art of interpretation, literary canon and popular culture.
